I almost turned into a sanding machine myself over the last weeks. Fortunately the sanding came to an end, the underwater ship is painted in 9 layers of primer and copper antifouling, the deck is nice and white again, the cabin top is varnished wood and most of the yellowness turned into nice mahogany color again.
In fact, I went out for a sail. Just for the fun of it. For the very first time in my life I just went sailing… with nothing else in mind than going for a sail.
My plan was to have the boat ready to sail and in the Mediterranean by June 2019. Now we have mid April and I am ready to go.
It is such a relieve and I am exited to leave the port to start the journey. Some minor repairs and fixes are still to be done but as it is with an old wooden boat, there is always work 😉
As this is just an update on the status ÍI‘ll be back with more soon.
I knew I want to travel the world. I knew I want to go sailing. I knew I want to go South.
I recently found out that I want to travel as light as possible… even on the water. I was looking for a boat that is as small as possible and still be safe enough to do some serious sailing. After my experience with Emma, our 45 year old Mercedes Camper Van, I knew I want to travel with a boat that is easy to maintain, wherever I am on this planet.
My dream was and is to turn the whole project into an experience worth sharing. I have already done some great journeys and the most amazing has always been to share it.
Fun, joy and love are some of the very few things that get more when you share them. When I was on my own, I struggled to enjoy the beautiful sunsets, the incredible mountain range or the endless ocean as much as I did when I was able to share it.
Therefor I am will document the whole journey on Patreon where you join me, starting at a buck per month. That is basically an espresso every other month and therefor you’ll be part of trip and you’ll receive exclusive content as well.
AND I am going to take people with me. That might be friends, customers or patrons. As I wanted to see if anyone is interested in that project at all, I started the kickstarter campaign three weeks ago, maybe you remember.
Actually it will be online for another roughly 15 hours when this is published and I am so happy that it is fully financed. Nevertheless, if you want to leave a € or two, you are more than welcome. There is also the possibility to purchase a week with me on the boat in 2019. CLICK HERE
I call it camping on the water, as it is a tiny boat compared to all the huge plastic boats you see around, but I can guarantee you, you‘ll have as much fun as you possibly can and it will be an experience of your life.
Are you on board?
Whatever happens to you is often out of your control. Your reaction to that in contrary is your own choice. I decided to turn the amount of freedom that I momentarily have into the chance to live a childhood dream.
Since I don’t want to do that alone I am inviting you to join me on the adventure around the world.
kickstarter project: kck.st/2uelZbE
I was thinking about this project for quite a while. In fact it has been a dream of mine since I saw sailing boats for the first time and could feel a glimpse of the freedom that it would mean to travel the ocean.
I want to do it my way and still… I don’t want to do it alone. Therefor I decided to bring as many people on board this very special project and launch it on kickstarter.
Travel the world with me:
In 2012 I took the decision to go for my childhood dream of sailing the world before the year 2021. At that time I had no idea how to ever do that. I wasn’t able to sail, I thought all boats cost 250.000,- upwards and I was afraid when I couldn’t see land or was alone in the dark.
Sailing the world before I’m forty and somehow that thought stuck around all that time. In the rearview, a lot of the decisions I have taken since then make sense now. I went alone to Sahara, passed my sailing license, went on regattas, lived in a camper for 8 months, built up my coaching business, left my corporate job, built up a Lodge in Zanzibar, minimized my possessions…
Most of these gave me either a great deal of personal freedom, the experiences I needed or both.
By now I am just missing roughly 3.000,- to achieve that goal of restoring a historic wooden boat. Unfortunately I lost my Lodge in Zanzibar due to fraud and greed. This took me a bit off the financial planning for this and the next year… On the other hand did it give me the opportunity to plan even more freely than before.
Since I never planned to just go sailing on my own, but turn it into an experience that I wanted to share with others, that I want to share with you, I came up with the idea to sell some of my ideas for next year upfront to kickstart the project in 2018, to be ready for you in 2019.
I am going for a nordic folkboat, because it is one of the smallest boat categories that can make it across the Atlantic ocean. It is the most popular boat class and it has been around forever (75 year). That leaves me with a good price range to be affordable.
Furthermore is it small enough to be maneuvered completely without an engine. The construction is simple enough, wooden planks, tiller steering, simple rigging, to be maintained and repaired by myself while traveling. I am planning to go without a build-in-engine since it is my goal to travel the world without using (plastic) or burning (petrol) any fossil carbon.
I am not looking for the best comfort, but for the greatest experience. Which I am going to share with you.
I created this project with a pledge of 3.000,- but have plenty of room to improve. If I make this minimum amount I can finish all needed projects. Everything above will also be invested in the project and will go into further improvement of the boat, water desalination, solar power, better anker, new rigging. That leaves me hoping for a multiple of the original amount asked for.
While traveling I have a mission to work on:
I believe that each one of us has a deep rooted desire to live life in a way that feels good and won’t hurt or harm anyone else.
True love is always sustainable. Therefore I believe that raising the awareness for an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle as well as a life worth living belongs together. I signed, respect and live the pledge of the United Nations Clean Seas Organisation with their Slogan: turn the tide on plastic!
If you want and are willing to help me to realize the: “LIVE THE LIFE YOU LOVE – world tour”!
Thank you for making this possible, Floh

I am so thrilled to be able to present you an inspiring young couple: Kika and Dan. They decided to not buy a couch and settle down after graduation, but instead invest all they had into an old sailing boat that still had to be renovated before they could even launch it into the water.
What amazes me most about the two is not, that they are living their dream on a sailing boat, but that they made it there against all odds.
They managed to deal with frustration, with the lack of money and the lack of comfort. No matter how big the setback in the beginning was, they kept their smile and humor.

Last time I promised you a feedback about my time in Zanzibar and well… here we go. This has been a disturbing time for in May and I had my struggles to focus on the positive side of things.
Yet, what does it do any good to not not see things positive. It is as it is and the only thing truly matters, is the question of who to be in relation to that.
I strongly believe that each one has the right to be different. I want that right to be based on honesty and understanding. I think it is helpful to speak up against it publicly. No matter if family, a group of friends, a business or a whole society is involved.
Don’t give room for betrayel and grief and fight for honesty, transparency, understanding and loving care!

It is easy to be the person you want to be when you are in control. When everything is going exactly the way it way planned, you might emotionally not be disturbed. But what happens when you lose control?
What happens when everything goes wrong. When things are not going as planned, when you are frightened, when you are terrified. How much of your higher self can you maintain when your emotions are going wild. Unfortunately I tested that in the last week, where I didn’t publish anything and I can tell you, I learned a lot.
As I am writing this I am traveling in Morocco, recording some video Material in Marrakesh and the High Atlas for you. (Soon to be published for my Patreon supporters)
After posting about personal motivation and plans for the current year, I can now tell you about one major project for this summer.
I will travel to Tanzania soon and beside some Caveman projects in Zanzibar, I will travel across the whole country which will end up in endless miles on the road. My plan is to reach the lake Victoria, which is regarded by many as the source of the Nile. I will cross it by boat and later make it all the way back to Zanzibar. I will take you with me on this journey for sure. I will also document my time in Zanzibar and the Caveman progress.
After my return I will head to Provence for this years edition of the RIDING experience. Taking last years film crew of the SAHARA experience I am so excited to have a documentation about the magic that happens on that tour. Sitting on a horse and therefor interacting with another living being all day as well as being surrounded by the most stunning landscape is only one part of the experience. The other will be intense coaching sessions, metaphor stories and hypnosis experiences.
My way back to Switzerland from Provence will then take a while. My plan is to run by foot. I will be mainly unsupported on my run across the Alps. I wish to make it at least across the main mountain range and reach Italy. Depending on weather and condition I will proceed to the Italian coast at Triest and you will know about it, since I will write and post about it life on different channels. By the way have you checked out my Instagram yet? I post my nicest pictures there.
I think it has been long enough since my last physical project… crossing the alps from North to South together with my friend Markus as a part of the transalpine run. The plans are not 100% fix yet and I will go with the flow since I believe that life should be fun..
